1. HAPPY HOLIDAYS FROM THE STAFF AT BRASS RING
We wish everyone a happy holiday season. Sorry for the newsletter being late and thank you
for all of the emails asking when we would get it out. Almost all of us here at Brass Ring
attended the annual IAAPA (International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions)
show in Atlanta, Georgia. Many of you had a chance to visit our booth and meet us for the
first time. Thanks for dropping by.

2. A GREAT CHRISTMAS SHOW AT TILDEN PARK'S ANTIQUE CAROUSEL
IN BERKELEY, CALIFORNIA
Directly following the show, we were off to San Francisco for our annual Christmas carousel
maintenance, leaving us with little time to write. One of the highlights of our San Francisco
trip was attending the opening of this year's Tilden Park Merry-Go-Round's Christmas Show in Berkeley, California.
The huge tree out in front of the carousel building has been filled with lights and the interior
of the carousel building has a ton of trees loaded with gorgeous, sparkling ornaments . We've
never seen so many ornaments in one place, and ALL of them are for sale! Of course, you
can also ride the carousel. The carousel is open every night from 5:30 to 8:30, but I would
call first to get directions and find out about the weather.

3. THE CAROUSEL STORE IS COMING SOON!
BRASS RING ENTERTAINMENT and CAROUSEL.COM are preparing to open The Carousel
Store. This will become your one stop shopping place for everything carousel. From the
smallest knickknacks to complete carousels, we will have it all.
As per numerous requests, we will begin selling both antique and reproduction carousel animals.
Our plan is to have something for everyone from the finest antique carousel figures available
on the market to well-made reproductions, from full-size pieces to the finest miniatures.
You won't be disappointed. Furthermore, with our extensive experience with crating and shipping, you can be sure you will receive your piece in excellent condition at the lowest possible
shipping rate.
We have recently purchased a new server with cutting-edge ecommerce software that will allow
visitors to securely buy items online. Plans are still being made, but a starting date of sometime
in April 2001 seems likely.
Furthermore, we currently are looking for artisans and designers with unique products that are
carousel related. Keep in mind there are three things that we hope to sell: high quality, limited
edition, hand created arts and crafts directly related to carousels; unique or hard to find carousel goods and collectibles; and one-of-a-kind creations produced by gifted artisans.
If you produce such goods, or know someone who does, do not hesitate to contact us. Ideally
we would like to set up relationships with independent manufacturers and artisans.
Banner ads and Affiliate Programs will also be introduced.

4. UPDATE ON THE ELK CITY, OKLAHOMA CAROUSEL
Everything is flying now. Our new gears just arrived from the machine shop. Precision cut
from a solid piece of steel then flame-hardened, these gears will last forever. The machine
is up at our shop and the trim is being fitted. Horses are being painted and the floors are
being covered. Take a look at the website to view a bunch of new photos..., and more are
on the way.

5. UPDATE ON THE LAKE HAVASU CITY, ARIZONA CAROUSEL
Ok, so we're crazy. On the same day we put up the Elk City Carousel, we also put up the
Havasu Carousel. Two carousels up at the same time at the same shop! Currently the new
floors are being made. After almost five years the City says that the site will be ready in
February 2001. There won't be much happening this month, but in January things will
happen fast. Check back often and watch the carousel come together.

6. UPDATE ON THE RESTORATION OF THE SAN FRANCISCO ZOO CAROUSEL
The Zoo Restoration Project is going great. Horses are being finished and the inner housing
is coming along fine. We have brought in Leslie Kitts to handle the marbleizing of the pillars
and lower housing. She is a well-known Los Angeles artist and may be the finest marblizer
and gold leafer in Southern California.
While in the Bay Area this month, we saw the progress of the painting and wood restoration. There are eight animals that have been painted and are awaiting a clear coat of varnish.
In January the rest of the frame will be dismantled.
We just updated the website with new photos and hope to keep adding photos
on a more frequent basis so you can follow the project.

7. UPDATE ON THE RESTORATION OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK'S CAROUSEL
The first of the horses are finished. Adrianna Roth is doing a excellent job of painting
the horses under the supervision of noted carousel preservationist Rosa Ragan. As you
may recall, Rosa did the research on the animals to determine the original colors used on
this machine. When completed, these animals will look like they looked when they left
the factory over 100 years ago.
As expected, George Herczak is coming along great with the horse restorations. Take a
look at all the new photos to see George doing what he loves to do best. It is great to
have him on our team.
Also, we need to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the great work that the brothers,
Rand and Zennon, at Los Angeles Stripping and Refinishing for doing such a great job.
They are the guys that you see in all the photos of animals being stripped of paint.
They're the best in the business, and we're glad they are working with us.

8. BRASS RING HAS A LIST OF NINE ANTIQUE CAROUSELS NEEDING A NEW HOME
Brass Ring has accumulated a large list of antique carousels for sale. We have everything
from the grandest of the grand classic park carousels to Allan Herschell
carousels. With nine original machines and two new wooden carousels, we have some-
thing for every location. If your area needs a carousel, let us know. Antique carousels
are hard to find, and when they're gone, they're gone.
