2. Museum Quality Carousel Restorations

BRE is the leader in documentation. Every step is completely photo documented. "Do you know what's under the paint on your carousel"? You do if BRE restored it. From the removal of the paint, repair of the wood, to the new paint application, you will receive photo evidence of the restoration.

Not only after the project but also during the project photos of work can be view on our Current Projects Page page at www.Carousel.com. BRE is the only company that allows you to watch from your computer as we restore your carousel. This not only helps you today, but also generations from now when the question is asked, "What's under the paint"?

3. Original Paint Carousels

BRE has set a new standard in carousel restoration. In the past, it left it up to an artist to design the carousel colors. At BRE, we still offer that option, but we also offer the option of restoring your carousel to the same colors and style of painting that it had the day it was produced.

We have one of the largest collections of original paint documentation in the world at our disposal. No other company has completed so many back to original paint carousel restorations in America. Furnished with the each carousel restoration is a complete documentation of the restoration, photos of original carousel animals used to document the restoration, a museum standard of paint conservation and a museum standard of paint color specifications. This will allow you to keep your carousel in the original colors forever.

4. Custom Gears and Parts

At BRE we have the ability to make anything. Our specialty is our carousel gears and crankshafts. The original gears were made of cast iron. They lasted 80 years, if taken care of. We manufacture precision cut steel gears that are then flame hardened. They will last forever.

A common problem with all carousel restorations has been the factory-original "bent style" crankshafts used on Classic Carousels. These crankshafts have always been the weakest link in a carousel and have limited the weight that could be placed on an animal.

BRE has eliminated this twisting crankshaft problem by manufacturing a skillfully-engineered welded crankshaft. This new shaft will allow your carousel to be ridden by today's larger customer without a problem. Over our many years of restoring carousels, we have built an extensive surplus of parts and patterns needed in museum quality carousel restorations. If we don't have it we can make it.

5. Making Carousels Meet Today's Ride Standards

There are many things that can be "Grand Fathered In" on a carousel, but some upgrades are a necessity for public and operator safety. Removing asbestos wiring, non UL electrical panels, and adding a great many requirements by OSHA have to be met. Meeting ADA standards without damaging the antique integrity of the carousel can be achieved. Child-Safe step-ups and double safeties on the horses need to be added for public safety. Let BRE upgrade your carousel to Safe Modern Riding Standards without destroying its original antique look and feel.
